Become a Flowently Tutor

Do you have experience with language or grammar teaching? Would others describe you as empathetic, creative, open-minded, and knowledgeable? We’re looking for tutors with a professional attitude and flexible availability each week. As a tutor, you’ll not only help others discover a new language, but you might also see your own culture through a fresh pair of eyes.

Want to join the Flowently tutor team? Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get started:

1. Check If You Meet the General Requirements

  • You are an HBO or university student, or highly educated.
  • You have a strong grasp of languages and grammar.
  • You’re not necessarily a certified teacher, but you have a passion for language, culture, and helping others.

 

2. Get to Know the Flowently Method

Before you start, make sure you’re familiar with how Flowently works:

  • Private, one-on-one language tutoring
  • Real-life, practical language learning
  • Focus on social language, pronunciation, and speaking
  • Sessions can be live or online
  • Available 7 days a week, 8AM–10PM
  • Minimum commitment: 4 hours per week

 

3. Join the Flowently Tutor Training

All new tutors attend a 3-hour training (live or online) to learn:

  • The Flowently method
  • Tutor responsibilities
  • Administration and policies

You’ll receive guidance when starting and support throughout your time as a tutor.

 

4. Confirm Your Language Proficiency

You should be a native speaker or have C2-level proficiency (based on CEFR).

Only teach languages where your level is at or near native fluency.

 

5. Prepare Your Tools

You need reliable access to a smartphone to accept bookings and respond within 24 hours.

A stable internet connection is required for online lessons and managing your profile.

Use Zoom, Teams, or FaceTime for online sessions. Install and test one before your first session.

 

6. Create Your Tutor Profile

After your interview and training, you’ll set up your Flowently tutor profile.

Your Profile Should Include:

  • Introduction text: A short (max 100 words) and engaging bio in English, followed by a longer “Read More” section with details about your teaching style, experience, and personality.
  • Profile picture: A clear close-up, smiling photo. Formats: JPG, PNG, BMP. Size: 500x500px minimum, max 2MB.
  • Video introduction: A 60+ second video introducing yourself. Speak in English and the languages you teach.

(For example) Use the YouTube Studio app to record and upload:

  • Download for AndroidDownload for iOS

Paste the YouTube link into your profile.

 

7. Manage Bookings Through Flowently

When You Get a New Student:

  • You’ll receive an email notification.
  • Call the student within 24 hours to introduce yourself and discuss preferences.
  • Decide on the session day and time together.
  • Confirm the appointment in your dashboard.
  • Both you and the student will receive confirmation by email.

For Returning Students:

  • Ask them to use the “Re-book” feature in their dashboard.
  • Once they’ve booked, confirm and schedule the session in your account.

Important:

  • Each session must be booked online to ensure payment.
  • Bookings expire after 48 hours if not confirmed.
  • Flowently may contact you if bookings aren’t followed up.

Changing or Cancelling Bookings:

  • Only tutors can change booking details after discussing with the student.
  • Only students can cancel a session.
  • If you need to cancel, inform the student so they can cancel it from their side.

Cancellation Policy:

  • Students can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours in advance.
  • Later cancellations are non-refundable and tutors will be paid.
  • Ensure all sessions are correctly booked for accurate payment.
